Cybersecurity Intern
Location: Remote (WI or AZ)
College: Must be currently enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Stout
Pay: $17-$25 per hour
Working Hours: Flexible, 10-30 hours per week within the Monday-Friday timeframe of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Central Time.
Term: 1/1/2025-6/30/2025 (Spring Semester 2025)
Position Overview:
Are you passionate about cybersecurity and eager to gain real-world experience in a fast-growing field? We are seeking a motivated and outgoing Cybersecurity Intern to join our team and play a crucial role in both sales/marketing and technical functions. This position is perfect for a proactive individual looking to develop a well-rounded skill set in cybersecurity, business operations, and client engagement.
As our Cybersecurity Intern, you’ll have the unique opportunity to:
- Collaborate on Sales and Marketing Initiatives: Assist in outreach efforts, creating content, and engaging potential clients to raise awareness about our cybersecurity solutions.
- Contribute to Technical Projects: Participate in hands-on projects such as conducting risk assessments, analyzing vulnerability scan results, and providing valuable insights for improving client security postures.
- Develop Key Skills: Build expertise in both cybersecurity best practices and business strategies, positioning yourself as a versatile professional.
- Gain Mentorship and Training: Work closely with an experienced cybersecurity professional, receiving guidance to enhance your technical, analytical, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct sales and marketing outreach to small and medium-sized businesses via phone and email related to our services.
- Assist with cybersecurity blog content and social media strategy.
- Perform cybersecurity risk assessments and identify security gaps.
- Willingness to learn and apply frameworks such as PCI-DSS, HIPPA, FFIEC, and local regulations as required.
- Operate, review, and analyze vulnerability scans to provide insights and remediation guidance.
- Stay updated on cybersecurity trends to inform content and outreach efforts.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled at UW-Stout in a technical degree program.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships.
- Technical acumen and interest in the cybersecurity field.
- Ability to learn new skills and quickly apply them.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
